What’s Happening Wednesday: Walks | Festivals | Burgers | Kolaches | Baseball | Thunder | Science | Music | Theatre | Art Walks & a Festival | Cirque | Free Museum Admission | Kentucky Derby | River Cruises and … LADY BUGS!

Oooohhhh mah goodness! Wow! So much happening this weekend and … IN MAY! Here’s all that I found. If I’m missing something please let me know. Even though this posts out on my social media platforms I can still go in and update my blog posts. Please do not hesitate to email leslie@lesliesokc.com. My sources are EVERYTHING: People, newspapers, radio, tv, internet, FACEBOOK INVITES (19 this week alone!), eblasts and more … I think it’s safe to say that we’re all great promoters of our individual events. We take such great pride. Okay, enough! It’s late on Tuesday and I have to get up and be ON for my Eggman in the Morning on KZLS 99.7 the True Oldies channel. I kind of flubbed up my interview! Can’t be on all the time!

PS. Watch me on KFOR with Ali Meyer this Thursday at 6AM to promote First Friday Gallery Walk in Paseo. I’ll have Mother’s Day gift ideas from the artists!

My apologies for not writing more on my blog. March has been kind if icky and sad and I just think that if you don’t have anything good to say publicly, just keep quiet. What’s Happening Wednesday with the Eggman & ME!

I’m super pumped! Today I started a standing radio gig with an old radio friend Eggman in The Morning on OKC’s True Oldies channel. He is sooo funny! Funny men are my weakness. I laugh at anything they say, even if it’s just ‘hi.’ He invited me to come on to tell their listeners everything that’s going on in Oklahoma City for the weekend leading up and boy do I love telling people where to go! Here’s a recap of what we talked about broken down into categories of what, I dunno!

  • Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s Photorealism Revisited Members‘ preview events on tonight, opens Thursday through April 21, 2013. Events throughout the run of the exhibit.
  • Myriad Gardens is opening the  Joy Richardson art show in the Crystal Bridge lobby area. Opening reception is Thursday, 5-7pm and is free and open to the public. On exhibit through February 28, 2013
  • Reflections: The Photographs of Allison V. Smith & Stanley Marcus, Artspace at Untitled in downtown will have an opening reception Friday, 5-8pm. Free and open to the public.
  • The Art Now exhibit at City Arts Center has opened and Friday is the annual Gala event. Monday is the curator talk. Lots of people love this Gala event.

Looking ahead

Be sure to tune in this next Wednesday, January 30! We’ll talk about the weekend ahead and then maybe event highlights for February! You can e-mail me at leslie@lesliesokc.com

Looking ahead to July 4th activities

Can you believe June is coming to a close and that the July 4th holiday is quickly approaching? I went on a search today to see what was going on and found really good information on About.com/oklahomacity from author Adam Knapp. Additionally I contacted others. Here’s what I found:

Saturday, June 30

Sunday, July 1

Monday, July 2

Tuesday, July 3

Wednesday, July 4

I’m still looking for any further events in Bricktown on July 4th… as always, I’ll keep you posted!

Leslie’s top OKC Calendar of Events this week!

I’m pretty sure I’ll be actually going to the Saturday night performance of Pink Martini with the OKC Phil at the Civic Center! Would love to go to the OKC Thunder game on Wednesday. I hear that President Obama is going to be there. It SHOULD NOT MATTER what side you’re on. I really hope he is not booed or anything. It’s a thrill to be in the presence of a sitting president. Protests outside – not a problem. Inside, please respect the office of the president. I saw George Bush do the commencement address at OSU in 2006. IT WAS AMAZING!

Alison Krauss and Union Station Featuring Jerry Douglas, Civic Center Music Hall, Mar. 25

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Los Angeles Clippers, Chesapeake Energy Arena, Mar. 21

Pink Martini, Civic Center Music Hall, Mar. 23 – Mar. 24
