What’s Happening Wednesday: Jazz | Anime | Lower Bricktown Live | Roller Derby | Full Moon Bike Ride | Summer Solstice | Tarzan

FJust when I thought it was going to be a not so crazy week in Oklahoma City, BAM! I took a closer look and there’s some pretty great stuff happening. And once again, with variety and for so many demographics. I love it!

Friday is Summer Solstice. It will be the longest day of the year. Sunrise is at 6:15am. Sunset is at 8:48pm. What will you do for the longest day of the year?

Don’t forget to tune into Eggman in the Morning with Shawn Carey on KZLS 99.7 The True Oldies Channel every Wednesday morning at 7:30am.

It’s the week of the Festival! Red Earth, deadCENTER, Prix de West & Charlie Christian, plus Paseo, Shakespeare, Running, Kenny Wayne Shepherd …

It’s a magical time of year in Oklahoma City! It’s the WEEKEND OF THE FESTIVAL! I mean, there’s just something for EVERYONE! deadCENTER Film Festival starts Wednesday, Red Earth Festival (love the parade & grand entry), the Charlie Christian International Music Festival and the Prix de West start on Friday. Always happy for First Friday Gallery Walk in the Paseo Arts District. A lot of people are talking about the Kenny Wayne Shepherd concert at the Diamond Ballroom, which is a benefit concert for the tornado victims. I’ve included the Jerry Jeff Walker concert at Riverwind on Friday… just reminds me of the days when I lived in Raleigh, North Carolina. My mom and I just loved that Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother song and we were anything but redneck! It was the 70s. We leaned the happy hippie style.

Please enjoy. There is so much to do in this town! Don’t ever get baffled. Let me help you! Let me… tell you where to go!

Be sure to tune into Eggman in the Morning with Shawn Carey on KZLS 99.7FM The True Oldies Channel Wednesdays at 7:30am!

Good Wednesday to you! Sometimes I think … I’m going to need a bigger calendar. I love my Google calendar but I might have to upgrade to a new WordPress Plugin for easier reading. So much is happening it’s amazing! You can like my Facebook page Leslie’sOKC  where I like to post photos from a lot of these events while they’re happening. It’s really cool to see all the happy faces in all the right places.

Even though this posts out on my social media platforms I can still go in and update my blog posts. Please do not hesitate to email leslie@lesliesokc.com. My sources are EVERYTHING: People, newspapers, radio, tv, internet, FACEBOOK INVITES (19 this week alone!), eblasts and more … I think it’s safe to say that we’re all great promoters of our individual events. We take such great pride. Okay, enough! It’s late on Tuesday and I have to get up and be ON for my Eggman in the Morning on KZLS 99.7 the True Oldies channel. I kind of flubbed up my interview! Can’t be on all the time!

Green Day | Viral | Portlandia | Paseo | JRB Art at the Elms | Tim Rhodes | Instagram

Happy Monday and New Year’s Eve day! Where are you going to be tonight? We will have champagne with neighbors then hang out with good friends. I’m looking more forward to the New Year’s Day brunches happening. A great new trend I am loving. The food is amazing and … you don’t have to dress up. In fact, pajamas are preferred! Here’s what’s up…just random thoughts…again!

Green Day is back on tour. BEST.CONCERT.EVER!

I had my first viral success with a photo I reposted on the Myriad Gardens Facebook page. 1,459 likes, 400+ shares, 80+ comments and 65 new people to the page…in like, hours! Thanks to Zach Nash for sharing a hauntingly beautiful snow covered downtown Oklahoma City photo. It had nothing to do, really, with the Myriad Gardens but the result of 65 new Facebook friends was a huge return. I had one client that didn’t like this kind of method. Big mistake! Big!

New Year’s Eve Portlandia marathon today! New season starts Friday. This show makes me laugh so hard. Heads-up: you’ve got to have an odd ball sense of humor. Of course Fred Armisen is hilarious but Carrie Brownstein is his perfect match.

My sister had us over for dinner last night. She brought out her and her husband’s record collection and invited us to take what we wanted it. It was truly a treasure trove. Both her and her husband are good at holding on to items for a long time and preserving. I picked five but now what? Collection photos below.

There will be some fun activity in the Paseo Arts District on New Year’s Day. Sure most of the stores and galleries will be closed but JRB Art at the Elms is having their annual New Year’s Day brunch and opening. Picasso’s Cafe on Paseo is having a Hungover Brunch.

It’s not too late to “Rent-a-Swag.” Love Parks n’ Rec! Check out this hilarious Pinterest page.

Got a busy week! My client, the newly elected Tim Rhodes, Oklahoma County Court Clerk, is getting inaugurated on Wednesday at the Oklahoma County Courthouse. I’ll be attending, taking and posting photos. He won in August. It’s been a long time coming!

I’ve fallen in love … with Instagram! Find me here and I’ll follow back! I’m a pretty amazing photographer… now! 🙂

Enjoy your first week of 2013!
