It’s the week of the Festival! Red Earth, deadCENTER, Prix de West & Charlie Christian, plus Paseo, Shakespeare, Running, Kenny Wayne Shepherd …

It’s a magical time of year in Oklahoma City! It’s the WEEKEND OF THE FESTIVAL! I mean, there’s just something for EVERYONE! deadCENTER Film Festival starts Wednesday, Red Earth Festival (love the parade & grand entry), the Charlie Christian International Music Festival and the Prix de West start on Friday. Always happy for First Friday Gallery Walk in the Paseo Arts District. A lot of people are talking about the Kenny Wayne Shepherd concert at the Diamond Ballroom, which is a benefit concert for the tornado victims. I’ve included the Jerry Jeff Walker concert at Riverwind on Friday… just reminds me of the days when I lived in Raleigh, North Carolina. My mom and I just loved that Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother song and we were anything but redneck! It was the 70s. We leaned the happy hippie style.

Please enjoy. There is so much to do in this town! Don’t ever get baffled. Let me help you! Let me… tell you where to go!

Be sure to tune into Eggman in the Morning with Shawn Carey on KZLS 99.7FM The True Oldies Channel Wednesdays at 7:30am!

First Friday Paseo | VW Jamaica Ad | American Idol OKC | Puppy Bowl! | GB 30 Rock | Johnny Cash | Dancing Aime | Andy Cohen is mad at Lord Grantham!

Happy Thursday! There is so much on my mind I had to do another blog. Here’s what’s up:

First Friday Fashion at JRB Art at the Elms… I’m trying to encourage everyone, including men, to wear hats. Bonus: playing the hat game! Did you ever play that? It’s like musical chairs but you are taking the hat off the person to the right of you. Hair gets messed up.

I love the VW Jamaica ad. Mostly  because I think it says ‘lighten up corporate America.’  No racists mon! No worries – oney bun will com soon mon!”

Set your DVRs tonight for American Idol with the final auditions  being held in Oklahoma City. Fingers crossed they show great singers and excellent city scenes! PS. I was at the Aerosmith concert when Ryan and — came on stage. Wonder if that will be included?

Don’t forget about PUPPY BOWL on Sunday!

Another DVR setting heads-up, last night for 30 Rock! Here are other articles:

Johnny Cash is getting his own stamp. I love this clip of him singing “Ring of Fire.”

I love when mascots get together and do silly things. Imagine how much I love this: “Japan sets world record for most dancing mascots.” Not as familiar with anime characters however….

Love the way this reporter handles a live shot crasher down in New Orleans. I mean, the reporter knew what she was getting in to right?

Andy Cohen is FURIOUS with Lord Grantham of Downton Abbey! He’s made him the Jackhole of the day twice and has started a Twitter has tag #cora & #teamcora. He understand he’s not real but still … he’s mad!

Shoe Gallery Super Bowl Sale ! You’re welcome!

Stairs | Sandi Krakowski | Photo Tips | Phillip Phillips | Ingraham out | Suraj | Regina Murphy | Simply Hired dud jobs

Happy Wednesday! Is everyone keeping their holiday invites in order? I totally messed up on a Facebook invite event last Friday that I really wanted to go to. Maybe I shouldn’t turn off those invite notifications. BTW: December 6, 7, 8 & 9 have so much going on for OKC. Refer to my calendar of events.

Here’s what’s on my mind:

OKC Thunder shirts possibly the sure gift for wayward Okies who still want to show pride. Seen at Blue 7’s Myriad Gardens Pop-up Shops

Congratulations on this wonderful Slice Magazine article for the ladies at Studio Six in the Paseo Arts District. Regina Murphy, Mary Nickell and Sue Moss Sullivan are highlighted. You can see a show on Regina’s works at JRB Art at the Elms, opening December 7  during First Friday Gallery Walk and of course Studio Six will be open on First Friday as well.

I was really happy Tony and Melissa won Dancing with the Stars All Stars last night. I was more happy for Tony. I’ve seen him go through all those dud celebrities and be so patient with them.

The Little Willie Triple Dog Dare stair climbing challenge is this Saturday in downtown with three buildings – Leadership Square, Oklahoma Tower, then the other side of Leadership Square is inviting. I want to say I’ll do it. Stairs kill me! Like – little flights of stairs kill me. Great idea!

I’ve been on a 30-day free trial for this blog guru Sandi Krakowski. Pretty good so far. Check back with me in 26 days. She’s really wacky. She’s like me but on super 10-hour Energy drink!

10 really amazing tips on taking great photos. Each tip from an expert photographer.

Steve Lackmeyer is so on target with this NewsOK article on MAPS3. I remember when I was at the Chamber during MAPS1 and there was just such negative publicity then everything opened and then it was the greatest idea ever! Just chill out everyone please. Patience is a virtue. I’ve been there a lot of times. Don’t rush architects, engineers and construction. It’s like the ole’ measure 500 times, build once motto.

I’ve quit watching American Idol years ago but I sure do like the latest winner’s song, Phillip Phillips’ Gone.

Laura Ingraham is leaving her current radio distributor. No mention of a new company sooooo, Tyler Media – this is your out. Turn KOKC AM into more self-improvement, live your life better programming… Maybe even local show about great businesses in OKC?

Life of Pi or Lincoln? I’m not one for period films nor films where animals drown but … I saw this article on the Life of Pi actor Suraj Sharma and became intrigued.

Tony Bennett will play himself on 30 Rock this Thursday. Speaking of NBC Thursdays, Rainn Wilson posted on his Facebook page this spoof of the Two and a Half Men star Angus T. Jones trashing his show except he uses it for The Office. Love him!

Just for fun, I put a tick on Simply Hired alerts for PR/Marketing/Social Media jobs in OKC … this is sad: Customer Service Rep – Data Entry Online Typist. How does this job have anything to do with that criteria? And that’s like – all there is.

Gift idea tip: Do you have a true Oklahoman who moved to San Francisco that has an amazing job with Google and has everything? The OKC Thunder shirt seen above in the Blue 7 section at the Myriad Gardens new Pop-Up Shops concept got a like from her. So I’m thinking a lot of things OKC Thunder, especially for wayward Okies are the sure thing.

My Vh1 Top 20 Video Review and more

Okay – I’ll admit… the heat got to me last night during the Paseo Arts District‘s First Friday Gallery Walk. It was a record breaking high for a low … If you saw me, I hope I didn’t offend. I was just either wanting to sit down or vomit. Yep – not good at conversation. I didn’t last long – well, home by 10pm. Still a great turnout for all the galleries. What troopers. I just made it to JRB Art at the Elms and the Avalon building. DONEZO! I really wanted to make Les Debris & Oklahoma Heritage Museum’s openings but alas…

Here’s what’s on my mind:

  • Will this NewsOK crime story make national news? It should. Woman stabs boyfriend with his power drill. She sped off in a PT Cruiser with a flat tire. Those lips!
  • Museums and libraries make great escapes from the heat. The Oklahoma City Museum of Art and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum offer free admission for Bank of America cardholders today and tomorrow. Libraries are open Sundays, 1-6pm during the heatwave.

VH-1 Top 20 Video Countdown this week in review is everything old is new again but new is new still!

  • No Doubt is back & looking cool in Settle Down. Yes I want to do Gwin’s new dance.
  • Matchbox 20 sounds pretty good with She’s So Mean. Again – another soon to be overused Adult Contemporary Radio song.
  • Carly Rae Jepsen is so cute, reminds me of my niece Anna. She and Owl City have a song out together called Good Time. I like it!
  • I really like Linkin Park’s Burning it Down but I’m starting to wonder if they’re videos are all looking the same. But still stunning to watch.
  • Pink has a new video called Blow Me (One Last Kiss). It’s just a bit too dramatic for me. I’m sure it will be the next overused Adult Contemporary Radio song as well. Not a hater – I still really like her.
  • Katy Perry is number one with Wide Awake. That has to be about her marriage break-up. Duh.
  • How am I not seeing Kelly Clarkson in Thackerville tonight? I know … it’s way over across the state in Thackerville. Love her new video Dark Side.
  • Flo Rider – that house on the beach in the Whistle video is unreal. I’m really liking him! I am actually pulling up some of his old songs and rediscovering him.
  • And my favorite NEW band, who’s video has finally grown on me is The Lumineers’ Ho-Hey. I like the way the stomp their feet when they say HEY. Who are these people? I’m intrigued. Looks like two guys and a girl. Seems a bit Irish. More to discover!
